Even Tsvangirai want better thing joor... |
speculation about his love life.
On Monday, he introduced Ms Macheka to President Robert Mugabe and Vice-President Joice Mujuru.
The Prime Minister’s spokesperson, Mr Luke Tamborinyoka, said the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) leader had completed customary marriage rites with the Machekas at the weekend.
Mr Tsvangirai also introduced his new wife to his own family at his rural home.
“A traditional ceremony to welcome her (Macheka) to the family was held in Buhera over the weekend,” he said, declining to reveal how much his boss paid in bride price.
“It’s his wife…..The PM did this (introduction) out of courtesy because as a public figure, it is not good for him to introduce his wife at a public function or funeral.”
Mr Tsvangirai has been linked to several women since his wife died in an accident in March 2009.
Last month, he announced his engagement to Ms Macheka, six months after he ended his relationship with a Harare businesswoman, Ms Lorcadia Karimastenga Tembo.
His new wife is the daughter of a top official in President Robert Mugabe’s Zanu-PF party.
The PM’s marriage to Ms Tembo that lasted 12 days, raised a storm with a traditional leader dragging him to his court.
He was charged for marrying in the “sacred Shona month” of November last year.
Mr Tsvangirai had reportedly paid $36,000 and 10 cows in bride price for a Ms Tembo during a traditional ceremony on November 22.
The chief fined him for the offence, but the ruling was overturned by the High Court.
