Dandelion Foundation, a group committed
to engendering in youths skills required for meaningful life, has taken
sex and sexuality education to private secondary schools in
Badagry,
Lagos State.
Coordinator, Mr. Mobolaji Aina, said in Badagry that the measure was to sensitise the pupils to the ills of teenage pregnancy.
Aina said it was against that backdrop
that a programme tagged, ‘2012 Boot Camp’ was put together to enlighten
them on sexuality education and other skills.
He said that the rate of teenage pregnancy had reached a alarming level and that many pupils had dropped out of school.
He said the Boot Camp, which held at
Meritland Secondary School, Igborosun, Badagry, for three days, provided
a veritable platform through which participants were imbued with
necessary ethos and abilities to enhance their wellbeing.
He said re-nowned resource persons were
drawn from diverse fields to take the pupils on mentoring on career
choice, vocational and entrepreneurial skills.
Other aspects, according to him, were basic information and communication technology and sexuality education.
Aina said the foundation reached out to
18 private schools in the Badagry area, adding that many schools turned
out for the programme.
