Former Vice Chancellor of the Ekiti State
University, Prof. Dipo Kolawole, was on Thursday arraigned by the police
before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti.
Kolawole, who was arraigned for four counts of stealing and forgery, pleaded not guilty to each of the counts.
Kolawole was also accused of withdrawing
N91m in one of the accounts of the university with
the United Bank for
Africa Plc at the university branch.
He was also accused of forging a letterhead of the university to steal which contravenes Section 467 (3) of the criminal Code.
Kolawole pleaded not guilty to all the
charges and the Police Prosecutor, Mr. Amos Dagbo, who appeared
alongside Mr. Joseph Onaji, asked the court for a date.
He said the date would enable him to send the case to the Ministry of Justice for the prosecution.
Counsel for the accused person, Mr.
Olalekan Olatawura, applied that the former vice chancellor should be
admitted to bail. He added that there was nothing suggestive that his
client would jump bail.
