Ojo was found in possession of 800grammes of the hard drug
For Indian Hemp business, the Federal High Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, on Tuesday, sentenced 72-year-old Michael Ojo to one year imprisonment, after he
pleaded guilty to possession of Indian hemp.
Iliya Waji, prosecutor and Senior Legal Officer with the NDLEA, had told the court that Ojo was caught with 800 grammes of marijuana on July 4 at Ire-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The offence, he said, was  contrary to and punishable under Section 11 (d) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30 Laws of the Federation 2004.
Ojo pleaded guilty to the charge and begged Justice Emmanuel Obile to temper justice with mercy.
The defence counsel, Benson Nduka, also pleaded  with the judge to consider Ojo's age and health condition.
Obile issued the one-year sentence with an option of  N40,000 fine.
