Just in: About 95 caught in blaze’ after petrol tanker spill in Rivers

Report: Dozens of people who rushed to scoop up fuel after a petrol tanker tipped over were “caught in the blaze” when the vehicle caught fire, Military and Police spokesmen said on Thursday at Okobie, Rivers State. Report said that“People rushed there to scoop for fuel and there was a fire which consumed a lot of people,”
said
police spokesman Ben Ugwuegbulem, of the southern Rivers state, while military spokesman Onyema Mwachukwu said dozens “were caught in the blaze.”
FRSC Sector Commander for Rivers State, Dr. Kayode Olagunju, in stated in an update that casualty figures on the Okobe tanker accident on Ahoada - Mbiama on the East-West road in Rivers state as at 13:00 hrs had reached 95. He also reported that four vehicles, (1 tanker, 1 Toyota corolla saloon, 1 hummer bus and 1 Mitshibushi bus) and 34 motorcycles were burnt.
