Just In: One dead as Ishi Ozalla Community, Fulani herdsmen clash

THE conflict that erupted between the Ishi Ozalla Community in Nkanu West local government area of Enugu State and some Fulani herdsmen which led to the death of a Fulani and two cows on Monday is said to have
been brought under control following the quick intervention of security agencies.
But reports from the area indicated yesterday that tension is mounting in the area as some aggrieved Fulani youths threatened to revenge the killing of their member.
Vanguard gathered that some youth in Ishi Ozalla clashed with the Fulani herdsmen within the community for allegedly destroying crops belonging to some natives as well as raping some women in the area.
Following the disagreement between the two parties, a fierce fight ensued during which the Fulani herdsman and two cows were killed while some natives sustained severe injuries, a development that heightened tension in the community before a combined team of soldiers and policemen were drafted to the place.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the incident yesterday, said that the quick deployment of security operatives to the area prevented the escalation of the dispute, adding that both parties were summoned by the Commissioner of Police where a successful dialogue was held.
