Haemorrhoids (piles) is a painful condition wherein the veins inside or outside the anus or lower part of the rectum get inflamed or swollen due to congestion in the veins of the hemorrhoidal plexus.
Anal-rectal bleeding can stem from internal haemorrhoids, internal ulcers, anal penetration, and from rectal, colon or stomach cancers. All cases of rectal bleeding should be examined by a physician to rule out cancer of the colon and rectum. Rectal cancer is a serious health condition that can result from so many factors.
Anal itching (Pruritus ani) is the itching or irritation of the skin surrounding the anus. The skin may become red with rashes and the itching is worse in hot and warm weather. Itching in the area of the anus could result from injury sustained while passing out hard and dehydrated stool, hemorrhoids and anal fissure.  It could also stem from parasitic infection, fungi infection, ecema, sexually transmitted infections, genital herpes and warts, diabetes mellitus, haemorrhoids (piles), allergic reaction or a reaction to traces of strong detergent in the underwear, etc. Constipation, poor hygiene, synthetic underwear sweating and dampness usually aggravate anal itching.
Anal itching is usually treated by applying garlic oil, wheat germ oil, vitamin E oil, cod liver oil, calendula ointment or salve, aloe vera gel, fresh lemon juice, etc, to the affected area. Aloe vera gel mixed with olive oil and tea tree oil is particularly good for relieving itching. A hot Sitz bath will equally ease the discomfort anal itching. In addition, golden seal powder or stinging nettle, or chickweed, etc, can be taken orally as tea to help reduce itching.
Anal Fissure is a small cut or inflamed tear (ulcer) in the skin of the anus. It may occur as a result of straining at the passage of a large hard, dry stool associated with constipation. Anal fissure can be very painful and agonizing during and after defecation due to the stretching and spasms of the sphineter muscle. Anal fissure can cause a bright red bloodstain on the toilet paper after cleaning the anus. Usually, anal fissure heals by itself within a few days. However, due to negligence and uncleanliness, it can become infected, or due to chronic constipation and anal muscle spasms, healing may be delayed and difficult to achieve. Anal fissures tend to be more common in women than in men. The best treatment and prevention for anal fissures is to avoid constipation and to maintain a wholesome and nutritionally balanced diet and healthful lifestyle. Epsom salt Sitz baths will kill some germs, soothe the pain, relaxe the musculature in the anal area and speed up the healing of the fissure. Alternate hot and cold Sitz bath increases circulation to the rectal region and therefore promotes healing.

Abscess is more common in people with immune deficiencies such as HIV/AIDS. An abscess is usually treated with natural antibiotics such as echinacea, goldenseal, suma tea, colloidal silver, diluted lemon juice, high doses of Vitamin C, etc. Approximately 50% of those who develop an anal abscess will develop an anal fistula if the abscess is not completely healed.
Anal fistula is an abnormal channel or duct that develops between the anal cavities through the skin near the anus. It can appear as holes on the surface of the skin around the anus. This very serious and painful problem of the anal cavity will be treated fully in our next publication.
