Feyisayo Ayomide, |
SINCE 2010, Mrs. Adewunmi Adewale, the mother of Feyisayo
Ayomide, has been running from pillar to post over the health—-and
life—- of her only child.
According to her, the ailment started with a little swelling but it has now deteriorated to what doctors call Fibro Sarcoma of the right jaw (cancer).
The five-year-old boy is in a great discomfort as the ailment has spread to his mouth too. But there is hope, according to Lagos University Teaching Hospital. He needs N2, 870, 700 to undergo a surgery and other medical procedures.

Mrs. Adewale narrates how it all started
“When I detected a slight swelling on his right jaw, I took him to LUTH on December 2010. They did X-ray and told me that the ailment must grow before anything could be done,” she explains.
By 2011, the ailment has grown and he was operated on February 2012. But four months later, the swelling returned. It became bigger and extended to his mouth. “So, we did another operation and it was detected as cancer. The doctor says we need to raise close to N3million for my son to be healthy again,” she laments.
But Trinity Church, Vitoria Island, advises that the boy be operated abroad due to the complications in the previous surgeries. “The Church is willing to help but they insisted we should look for some part of the N6m needed to undergo the operation abroad…” the mother insists.
Mrs. Adewale formerly worked at Mr. Biggs but the need to run around overwhelmed her job. She is not working again, adding that his father, Gbenga Feyisayo has abandoned the boy and his mother.
She is now pleading for help from the public over her son. She says the boy is always restless and in pains and eats little, etc. Feyisayo, the victim, is full of life. The intelligent boy even knows the nature of his sickness and what should be done. “I want to be healthy again. I want Nigerians to give my mother money,” he says with an innocent look.
So far, her family members, loved ones and Trinity church have been able to respond to her immediate needs. But the huge amount involved now is beyond the power of the few people around her.
“ We were not given a deadline but we spend N200,000 every three-week to manage the sickness. It is not my joy to go public, but my son’s health is my priority. He is bright and I have promised to give him a good education to achieve his potentials. But he has stopped going to school for a while now,” the mother laments
