Nigerian student facing life imprisonment in Ukraine released today

Olaolu Sunkanmi Femi - a Nigerian student of Taras Shevchenko National University of Luhansk (Ukraine), who has been in detention in the Lungask district of Ukrain for about a year after being arrested after he was accused of attempted murder motivated by hooliganism while trying to defend himself from attack has been released.

Freedom at last!
Ukrainian police charged him with attempted murder even as the investigation was flawed in many ways, as eye witnesses said that Olaolu was....
defending himself against the six Ukrainian teenagers hooligans who attacked him at the entrance to his apartment block last year. Olaolu was said to have managed to get up and defended himself against the assailants with a broken bottle. During the process the police arrived at the scene and Olaolu was subsequently arrested and charged with attempted murder of five hooligans.  However, after so many series of protest and prolong legal battle Olaolu was released today.

Congrats Ola!
