Manchester City Axe Mancini

The axe has finally fallen on Roberto Mancini.
Manchester City have sacked Roberto Mancini 12 months after he guided the club to their first league title in 44 years. Having failed to mastermind the retention of City's Premier League title this season, losing out to rivals Manchester United, Mancini was under pressure to deliver silverware in the form of the FA Cup.
The Manchester City board have released a
statement suggesting that it has been "a difficult decision for the owner, Chairman and Board to make" given the transformation the former Inter boss has made at the Etihad, but one that had been necessary after missing out on several of the club's targets this season.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "Roberto's record speaks for itself and he has the respect and gratitude of Sheikh Mansour, myself and the Board for all of his hard work and commitment over the last three and a half years. He has clearly also secured the love and respect of our fans."
Assistant manager Brian Kidd will assume temporary control of first-team affairs for the remaining two games of the season and the post-season tour to America.

Farewell Mancini..
