The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has arrested six members of a suspected money laundering syndicate at the Excel Oriental Hotel along Airport road in Lagos on Thursday. The arrest followed a tip off by a patriotic citizen.
Those arrested according to the NDLEA Joint Task Force commander, Adeniyi Muyiwa, include 37-year-old Nwokenta Kingsley, Onwuasoanya Augustine, 54, who lives in Brazil and Christian Okoli, 35, also based in Brazil. Others are Nwokenta Emmanuel Maduakolam, 31, Ezenwa Ikenna, 28, and Ezenwa Uzoma, 33, a hotel manager.
Spokesperson for the agency, Mr. Mitchelle Ofoyeju revealed that they were shocked to......
discover that the ingested items by the suspects initially believed to be narcotics turned out to be money. He further disclosed that the suspects excreted the ingested money after being placed under observation.
Chairman of the NDLEA, Ahmed Giade, has directed the transfer of the suspects to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for further investigations.
