Customs seize Nigeria-bound cocaine in Argentina

The drugs are estimated to be worth $25million.

The Argentinian Custom Agency said it has intercepted a shipment of cocaine worth about $25 million, being transported to Nigeria.
The drug, 536 kilogrammes of pure cocaine, was packed  into 490 brightly coloured bricks and stuffed into heavy dredging equipment being flown from the international airport in Buenos Aires to an oil company in Lagos.
However, two
sniffer dogs discovered the drugs.
Speaking on the discovery, Maria Ayeran, the director-general of Argentina’s customs agency, said the Nigerian company name used does not exist.
She expressed belief that the final destination of the drugs might not be Nigeria, saying that they were probably meant for the streets of Europe.
She added that the perpetrators were most likely trying to use Africa as their trade route.
Meanwhile, the authorities in Argentina are still keeping the identities of the exporter and the Nigerian company under wraps as investigations are ongoing.
