Checkpoints: Crime rate soars in most part of the country..

....Oga Police
The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on assuming office last January ordered the dismantling of road blocks set up by policemen in different parts of the country with immediate effect.
The Police boss was obviously angry that
Nigerian policemen had formed the habit of setting up toll gate road blocks to extort money from law-abiding Nigerians.
During a recent meeting with senior police officers over the need to reposition the Nigeria Police Force to confront security challenges facing the country, Abubakar had said, “Look at how our policemen have turned to begging on our roads; the only thing left is for them to use calabash to beg for money. This can no longer be tolerated.”
Immediately the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed AbubakarAbubakar warned that the entire rank and file of the police complied strictly with his directive. Some police officers, who disobeyed the order, were arrested by detectives in plain-clothes given the mandate to monitor the compliance.

However, King of the road Armed robbers appear to have seized the opportunity provided by the immediate compliance with the IG’s directive to unleash terror on other citizens. As a result, the crime rate has shot up dramatically within the last few weeks.

Interestingly, Policemen have learn how to do their job by simply parking their patrol cars at a strategic point in view of maintain vigilance. But it was observed that at some checkpoints the policemen on duty appeared too relaxed and sometimes sleeping on duty, discussing with hawkers selling beside of their car or chatting leisurely among themselves thereby turning blind eye on the road.

Please Olopa, even if IG have dismantled una Road-Block, can you guys atleast drive and patrol within/around town & on the high way instead.
Oga Police, Incase you don't know, dismantling of road blocks has come to stay. No going back!
