You can help make Chioma whole again..yes we can!

...Lovely Chioma

Please read...

Miss Chioma Okafor’s life hangs on the cliff. For the past four years, she has been afflicted with chronic
kidney failure and has been undergoing dialysis twice in a week.
Chioma, a 2007-graduate of Economics from University of Port Harcourt was an employee of an engineering firm in Port Harcourt when the illness struck her.

… She needs N3.6m for kidney transplant!

From her sick bed in Havana Specialist Hospital, Surulere, Lagos, Chioma said it all started in June, 2008 when she felt unease about her health and had to go for a routine check up at a hospital in Port Harcourt.

“I always slept very well and all of a sudden, I was finding it difficult to sleep. I went to hospital and they conducted tests and said I had malaria and I was given treatment for malaria.
“After the treatment, I still wasn’t getting better. Two months later, I went back to the hospital and they carried out other tests on my urine, blood and the rest. According to the results, they said they found protein in the urine and so they placed me on low salt and protein diets. They also said my blood pressure had shot up a bit and was placed on drugs for hypertension.”
After the treatment, Chioma said she wasn’t seeing any improvement so decided to come over to Lagos to visit her family’s hospital, Havana Specialist Hospital. She was admitted on September 9, 2008.
She said, “that was when I was diagnosed properly and it was found that I have end-stage kidney failure, that is, chronic kidney failure, which doctors said could not be reversed at that point; that I have to be on dialysis or do a transplant.

“We wish to inform you that all this period, she has remained a resident of Havana Specialist Hospital and for almost three years, she has been undergoing dialysis twice a week at a whopping cost of about N50,000 weekly. So far, the sum of over N4.8m has been spent for dialysis. Our God has been the source of all this expenditure through numerous friends and sympathisers.

“Now to the crucial problem, the cost of this transplant, with other attendant costs, is put in the region of some $22,000 which includes all the hospital charges for patient and kidney donor, transportation and the help that may join in this trip and treatment. Conversion to naira is about N3, 586, 000 at a rate of N163.”
According to her parents, any consideration on this request could be forwarded to Havana Specialist Hospital, 115 Akerele Extension, Surulere, Lagos, or through the bank account number 1621770010876 at Sky Bank of Nigeria Plc. Chioma’s parents can also be contacted through the Chief Medical Director, Dr G.C.E. Okeke on 08023304747.
