Justice served at last: Court orders police, FG to pay N152 million to man over police killing of wife

Thank you Justice Ufot Inyang
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court has awarded the sum of N152 million against the Nigeria Police and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Mr Mohammed Adoke, for the extra-judicial killing of Mrs Doris Okere who was
carrying her eight-month-old baby as at time of death.
Late Mrs Okeke was shot by a policeman on January 31, 2011 in front of Zenith Bank, Mpape branch in Abuja. The evil-sent policeman, Olotu Owoicho, had fired after the driver of the cab she had boarded to work failed to obey his roger instructions.

The husband of the deceased, Eugene Okere, had in May 2011 sued for damages to the tune of N400 million. The presiding judge, Justice Ufot Inyang, granted Eugene and his son, Chidiebere Promise, burial expenses of N1,084.450, general damages of N60 million, special damages of N20 million, and cost of litigation amounting to N500,000.
The sum of small N300,000 was also awarded against the AGF for withdrawing from the case.
