Alleged military brutality, victim’s family wants justice

The family of Olupitan-Hassan of Ikeja area of Lagos has appealed to the authorities of the Nigerian Army to fish out the killers of their bread-winner, Adewale Olupitan-Hassan, a Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, loyalist, who died on Monday, July 30, few days after he was brutalised by some military officers in the Obanikoro area of Lagos State. According to the deceased’s son, Omololu, who spoke with Vanguard, yesterday, in Lagos, his father ran into a traffic jam as a result of the closure of the Third Mainland Bridge where he was accosted by the soldiers, who dragged him out of his car and beat him. Subsequently, they dragged him to the Flag House in Marina.
The following day his health deteriorated because of the maltreatment by the soldiers and he was rushed to Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, where he was referred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba, where he died on July 30.
According to Omololu, although  the case has been instituted at Office of the Public Defender but his family wants the authorities of Nigerian Army to bring the culprits to book.

...This is sad and barbaric of Nigeria military who only becomes powerful on sighting innocent civilians but takes off when BH are around the corner.
