Murder Latest: Female banker’s partner to face trial

• Two others declared wanted, police set husband free
For allegedly having a hand in the gruesome killing of the wife of staffer of a new generation bank in Aba, Abia State, a man described as her business partner is now to face murder trial.
The wife of the banker, who was also
a staffer of one of the commercial banks in the city, was murdered recently in their house at Umuchichi area of Aba, which led to the arrest of her husband whose name was simply given as Iweka from Mbano in Imo State.
Daily Sun gathered that the revelation by the victim’s five-year-old daughter also led to the arrest of the man described as a partner in the couple’s ‘sachet water’ business which had their house as its operational base.
It was learnt that there had been disagreements between the murdered lady and the three men including the two now at large who were also said to be partners in the business over the running of the outfit before she was killed.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abia State Command, Ezekiel Onyeke, the man who was to be charged to court over the incident and whose name could not be immediately ascertained, was the same person who was arrested alongside the husband of the late woman.
Onyeke said after police investigations, it was established that the man in question had questions to answer over the murder of the wife of the banker who hailed from Mbaise in Imo State. While Onyeke said the banker who was earlier arrested had been released because police did not find enough evidence to prosecute him over the incident.
He however, disclosed that police had spread the dragnet for the two other business partners of the couple who were also implicated in the lady’s murder. “We’ve spread our dragnet to fish out the two fleeing suspects,” Onyeke said, assuring that nobody indicted in the dastardly act would be speared.
The five-year-old daughter of the slain woman had implicated the accused and the two men now at large of involvement in the murder of her mother. Efforts made to speak with the mother of the slain woman failed as the management of a Three-star hotel where she works in Aba refused Daily Sun correspondent access to her.
