SINCE Mrs. Josephine Ibeh was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease
at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) in 2011, life has been
hell for her.
The medical report she
obtained from the Lagos
University Teaching Hospital, (LUTH) dated 22nd May 2012 and signed by
the Consultant Nephrologist, Bello B. T. reads,
“The above named 39-year-old woman presented at our hospital about four months ago with features of advanced chronic disease.
“Since
then, she has been on maintenance haemodialysis on an outpatient basis.
She is currently dialyszing once weekly as against the reccommended
thrice weekly due to financial constraints.
“Her medication include:
Tabs Minoxidl 2.5mg bd
Tabs Astenolol 50mg daily
Tabs Nifedipine retard 40mg bd
Tabs Frusemide 40mg bd
Tabs Lisinopril 20mg daily
SC Erythropoietin 400iv twice weekly
IV Iron Sucrose 200mg monthly
“She has been counselled on the need for a kidney transplant, which is the definitive treatment for her kidney failure.
She
has requested this medical report to enable her source for funds for
the surgery. Kindly offer her every neccessary assistance.”
Josephine
who is currently residing with her family at No 7 Kudirat Bello Close,
Agboroko, Iba, Ojo Local Government Area, Lagos explained that even the
purchase of the drugs recommended for her has been a Herculean task.
With
her life hanging on the balance, her husband, who has been impoverished
by her illness has declared his readiness to donate one of his kidneys
to save the life of his wife; but where is the money to foot the medical
bills?
About N6million is needed for her treatment abroad and
having sold everything they have to keep her alive, she is left with no
option than to solicit for assistance to help her live again.
The
Justice, Development and Peace Commission of St Augustine’s Catholic

efforts to get assistance for the ailing woman to her.
