The mother who visited The Guardian recently said she noticed he was breathing abnormally when he was three months old, and took him to the General Hospital at Isolo. An x-ray was conducted on him, and she was subsequently directed to the General Hospital at Ikeja.
Mrs. Mrs.Toriola said at the Ikeja hospital, the baby was
not examined, rather she was asked to come back two months later. On the appointment day, she said, the baby was not unattended to for hours because there were many other patients on queue. She later went back to Isolo General Hospital in tears as the condition of her baby worsened.
Desperate to save her child, Mrs. Toriola sought medical attention at other hospitals and after several tests, the baby was diagnosed with a hole in the heart on July 30, 2012 at Linique De-Mercy and Services Limited, Lagos.
The Pediatric Cardiologist at the hospital, Dr. Animasahun, wrote in the medical report signed by him that Ayoola requires surgical intervention in India and it will cost N2million.
The desperate mother is now appealing ‘‘I wish to see my son live to fulfill the purpose of God on him… but I cant afford the fee because am just a tailor and his father is an electrician. We are appealing to the state government, Federal Government and Nigerians to help us.”
