The suspect and another accomplice were arrested by the police after allegedly robbing a
phone shop on Taiwo Road in Ilorin.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Femi Fabode, told newsmen that the suspects initially pretended as customers when they entered the shop.
He alleged that they later made their mission known after holding the owner of the shop hostage at gunpoint.
The suspects, he said, ransacked the shop and allegedly made away with about 35 cell phones and their accessories all valued at N400,000.
The spokesman, who said the suspects also made away with N8,850 cash, added that some passers-by alerted the police about the incident.
He said on receiving the information, a police patrol team was immediately drafted to the scene with the assistance of the informants.
Fabode said the NYSC member ran out of luck as he was pursued and eventually nabbed while the other suspect was later arrested at their hideout in Laduba area of Ilorin.
He said a locally made double barrel pistol, one live cartridge, 21 cell phones, one machete, a battle axe and N7,000 cash were recovered from the suspects.
