Must read...

NO one thought his case would become this bad. It began manifesting like mild headache, and so, it was believed that he would soon be relieved. But his condition has since degenerated into a
serious health condition.
Ifeanyi Anigekwu, 17, is a brilliant and promising young lad whose dream is to become an international football commentator. But that dream has been put in limbo.
What started as headache and transformed into leg pains after fours days, prompting his admission at Mercyland Hospital, Ikotun between May 13 and 16 last year, before being referred to Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), has now left him bedridden for over a year.
The condition has left his two legs discharging puss just as his inability to stand up from bed for long now also makes him suffer from bed ulcer, which is being managed on water mattress.
“We have gone for operation hoping to remove the ulcer, but unfortunately the results have not been encouraging.
“Now, I am pleading to the general public to please come to my aid financially to enable me go for hip replacement because my right hip removed when they were dressing my wound. The hip replacement will cost me up to Two million, five hundred thousand naira in India,” Ifeanyi said.
According to his mother, the boy has been so brilliant and responsible. Nigerians should please help him achieve his dream.
According to the doctor’s report, “Ifeanyi is a sickle cell patient admitted 14 months ago on account of multiple osteomyelitis and avascular necrosis of the head of right femur. He developed multiple bedsores on the ward on account of his immobility and being bed-bound, and had to be managed on water mattress.”
Ifeanyi is being managed by a multidisciplinary team, which consist of pediatric hematologists, orthopedic surgeons, and physiotherapists together with other ancillary units.
He is currently being worked up for total hip replacement surgery when clinically stable.
While he cannot sit on the edge of the bed by himself or on a chair without assistance, he is unable to walk because the left hip joint is unstable following spontaneous extrusion of the head of the pathological fractured femur.
His parents are financially handicapped and owe the hospital to the tune of more than N440, 000 (four hundred and forty thousand naira). The expected cost of surgery is between $7, 500 and $15, 000, excluding cost of airfare.
