Uwazurike, who led a team of MASSOB leaders to
Fr. Joseph High School Relief camp for people displaced by the flood disaster in parts of Anambra State, on Thursday, said the increasing state of insecurity in the country was an indication that Nigeria will soon give birth to a new Republic of Biafra.
Donating relief materials to the victims, Uwazuruike said with many ethnic groups seeking secession, the chances of Biafra emerging as a republic in no distant time was close.
The MASSOB leader sympathised with the victims of the disaster and promised that if need be, the group would relocate them to a more permanent camp like it did for the war disabled veterans.
He said, “I can build permanent camp for the flood victims, as I did for the war veterans but let me wait for a while and see what the government can do for them”.
He also directed his men to provide necessary drugs for the victims in the camps.
He warned against any attempt to divert relief materials donated to them, saying MASSOB would deal with people caught doing so.
Meanwhile, the movement has appealed to the police in Aguleri to free five of its members arrested while awaiting the arrival of Uwazurike.
The Director of Information of MASSOB, Mr. Uchanna Madu, said the group had not done anything wrong in going to donate food items to the flood victims.
