Just as Nollywood fans heaved a sigh of
relief over veteran Enebeli Elebuwa’s steady recovery from
stroke-related complications, another Thespian, Pete Eneh, famous for
his ‘fatherly’ roles in Nollywood films, has had one of his legs
recently amputated by
doctors at Parklane Hospital, Enugu.
doctors at Parklane Hospital, Enugu.
Eneh’s travails began last year, after
he sustained an injury that later led to a serious infection, thereby
making treatment near impossible.
Feelers from his doctors show that the
injury degenerated to a sore, which was further compounded by the fact
that the actor was diabetic. He spent three months at the hospital
before he was advised to get the leg amputated to reduce the risk of the
infection spreading to other parts of his body.
The amputation took place on Wednesday,
October 24 after efforts to save the leg was unsuccessful. The actor,
who is often cast as Patience Ozukwu aka Mama Gee’s husband in movies,
is said to be taking the situation in his stride.
Eneh’s plight brings to the fore, the
worsening health condition of some Nollywood practitioners, whose
circumstances are generally compounded by financial constraints.
