Your Health: Maintaining Health Without Drugs

MAINTAINING health without drugs is a radical thought admittedly, but it really is not such the impossibility, that it would initially seem. Many are beginning to recommend a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, washed down copiously with water, regular bodily exercise, and meditation, as a means of maintaining health.  In these cases, there is no mention of drugs, not even in the form of vitamins.

There is a burgeoning advocacy of thought, which takes an even more radical stance on maintaining health without drugs. This form of healthcare, which can be practiced by anyone, starts and ends with spirituality, devoid, not only of drugs, but also of any other material means and methods.
Many in Nigeria and in other parts of Africa, would be quick to agree that the spiritual has a place in maintaining health, though the issue of excluding drugs altogether would elicit quite a debate. The question is, why rely exclusively on the spiritual (defined as metaphysics, faith, or trust in God), in order to maintain health? Why not rather assist spirituality with medicine? In addressing the issue, the premise must be, to first establish whether health is a spiritual, or a physical quality. It is safe to posit that health is a spiritual quality, although it is expressed in physical, mental and emotional well-being. The other question is whether the radical form of healthcare mentioned above, can be systematically learnt and practically proved?
First, what is this system exactly, and why is it not more widely known and practiced?
It is the science on which Jesus Christ’s work was based. It has deep Christian roots, and involves learning the rules of healing from the example of Christ Jesus, as elucidated in the Bible, in an orderly, intelligent and scientific, rather than miraculous way. It involves full faith in God’s ability and willingness to heal, not blind faith; and the rules for its demonstration can be found in Science and Health with key to the scriptures, written by Mary Baker Eddy. It is not more widely known and practiced for the very reason that it does not include the use of drugs.
Many who have sought this system of health and healing, and relied on it, not only in Nigeria, but in other countries around the world, continue to find it practical and dependable, even though it is spiritual and excludes the use of drugs. Healings have been recorded in cases of tumours, insomnia, infection, diarrhea, malaria, childhood diseases, injuries from accidents, influenza, migraine and many more ailments. The system is deemed prophylactic as well as therapeutic. Indeed in some countries abroad, it is acknowledged in their laws as a reliable system of healthcare.
Regardless of one’s religion, gender, age, race or level of faith, any one can learn to heal and be healed, and maintain sound health through this spiritual system of healing without drugs. It has no side effects, but the practical effects are seen in the maintenance of good physical, mental and emotional health.
