When military Lt. Col. Cotina Jenkins-Sellers returned from her tour in Kuwait, she headed straight to her son’s basketball game to surprise him.
It was a visit eight months in the making. Jenkins-Sellers’ eight-grade son, Derrick Jenkins, plays for Legacy Middle School in San Antonio. During a game last week, the coaches had it set up so that the referees called a fake technical foul and Derrick would shoot the penalty free throws. Little did he know, his mother was walking up to him as he made the attempts. After he missed one of them, his mom said, “That’s OK, son.”
What happened after that will bring you to tears.
