Scene of the incident

Tragedy was averted on Tuesday as Customers and bank officials were thrown into panic yesterday in Osun State as a security guard attached to a branch of First Bank Plc in Osogbo discovered a bomb wrapped in a polythene bag inside the banking hall.
Bank officials and customers were....
quickly evacuated from the bank in an effort to avert tragedy by the security men at the bank.
Report says officials of Police Anti-Bomb Squad were later mobilized to the bank where the bomb was detonated.
Sources said the development forced many shop owners in the area to hurriedly abandon their shops, as they scampered for safety.
However, the state government in a statement expressed surprise at the development, saying it had taken various measures to ensure security of lives and property.
The government observed that considering the “usually impregnable fortification of banks through their various screening machines which detect metals”, it was unthinkable that the device was not detected before finding its way into the banking hall.
