On Thursday, January 20, 2012, 31 years old Enenche Akogwu, the famous Channel TV reporter feel to the bullet of the angry Jama’atu Ahlus Sunnati Lidda’awati Wal Jihad, otherwise known as Boko Haram in the volatile city of Kano. Eneche Akogwu a reporter and camera operator with independent broadcaster Channels TV, was shot dead as he interviewed witnesses of terrorist attacks in the city of Kano.

Akogwu graduated Benue State University in 2004 and joined Channels Television as a reporter in the nation’s capital city of Abuja, two years ago. He was later made the station’s correspondent in Kano.
A resourceful and fearless reporter, Enenche Akogwu covered the northern region uncovering breaking stories and events across the troubled northern region.
He was the winner of Channels Television’s 2011 Chairman’s award and was honoured at the station’s end of the year celebration.
Akogwu had just returned from a police news conference following coordinated bombings by the extremist Islamist group Boko Haram that left at least 178 people dead, according to news reports.
