A suspected armed robber was shot and
killed during a gun duel with the police on Thursday at the Ikoku
Roundabout in Port Harcourt. Two of the gallant policemen were also
injured in the process.

policemen, who had ordered him and his group to get down
from their car, a Lexus Sport Utility Vehicle.
Unfortunately for him, the policeman,
who was identified by his colleagues as Destiny, was the first to pull
the trigger during the incident, which occurred at about 12.30 pm.
It was gathered that the remaining
occupants of the vehicle ran out into the crowd, a situation that made
it impossible for the policemen to shoot.
According to source, the suspected armed robbers, had
dispossessed one of their victims of the sum of N500,000 immediately he
drove out of a new generation bank within Mile 3 axis of Port Harcourt.
Oblivious of the fact that the police
had got wind of their operation, the armed robber drove into traffic and
when a group of policemen, who apparently laid ambush for the hoodlums
asked them to get out of the car, they refused while one of them decided
to take the policemen head-on.
With one of the armed robbers gunned
down, there was pandemonium within the area as a result of the deafening
sound of gunshots, just as two of the policemen were shot by one of the
hoodlums in the hand and thigh.
