Aerial attacks from the Nigerian Air Force inflicted heavy casualties on Boko Haram terrorists fleeing the Sambisa forest yesterday. Boko Haram insurgents had long made Sambisa, a dense forest in Borno State, one of their main hideouts.
A statement released today and signed by a military spokesman, Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, disclosed that troops of the 26th Task Force Brigade located in.....
Gwoza, Borno State, “engaged Boko Haram terrorists fleeing Sambisa forest.”
According to Colonel Usman, soldiers attacked a column of Boko Haram fighters fleeing in “seven pick-up vans and some motorcycles mounted with assorted weapons,” including rocket-propelled grenades and anti-aircraft guns. The statement said numerous terrorist fighters were killed in the attack.
“The troops also destroyed [the terrorists’] vehicles, weapons and motorcycles,” said the army spokesman, adding that troops “also recovered a vehicle, one motorcycle and two AK47 rifles’ as well as numerous kinds of ammunition.

He stated that Nigerian troops had intensified their patrols and offensive actions against the terrorists in the Sambisa area.
