SAD! [PHOTO] Protest In UNILAG Over death of colleague, Oluchi Anekwe, electrocuted within the Campus

Aggrieved students of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, on Wednesday, protested the death of one of their colleagues, identified as Oluchi Anekwe, who was yesterday, electrocuted on her way to her room in Sodeinde Residence, New Hall on the campus.
The students who reportedly barricaded the main gate of the university to express their grievances, however asked the Vice Chancellor, Professor Rahman Bello, to intervene in the matter, as it occurred within the school’s premises.

This is even as they were said to have prevented vehicles from coming in or going out of the school, to send home their irk.

Protesting students

Oluchi, a 300-level student of Accounting, who hails from Aku in Enugu state, was reportedly electrocuted when a high tension wire fell on her in front of the Sodeinde hall of residence in the campus.

She was immediately rushed to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) but was pronounced dead on arrival.

However, reacting in a memo, President of the UNILAG Students’ Union Government (SUG), Abiodun Martins,expressed the students’ displeasure over ‘unavoidable’ incident.
