THE Nigerian Army yesterday, said it has succeeded in cutting off the supply routes of Boko Haram insurgents, thereby rendering them dejected, hungry and with no capability to confront troops in the renewed offensive against the terrorists.
The army, which stated that the military was gaining an.....
upper hand, how- ever, attributed the successes so far recorded in the operations to members of the public, who it said, have been assisting with relevant information and
intelligence. It stated that such information had helped to rout the insurgents from their strongholds as their leader- ship, which has been completely decimated, are now on the run, while their foot soldiers are abandoning their masters and burying their weapons in the forest in search of refuge.
The acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Sani Usman, who announced the troops’ lat- est exploits yesterday, also said such information had led to the discovery of the insurgents’ Improvised Ex- plosive Devices (IEDs) making factories, their sup-
ply routes and movement. He said the army in collaboration with the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies, were working tirelessly to ensure that the terrorists are denied freedom of action until they lose the ability to carry out
further attacks. Usman, while assuring
that the military would beat the three months directive by President Muhammadu Buhari to end insurgency, commended officers and airmen of the Air Force in the North East, who he said, have conducted themselves creditably and profession- ally to the admiration of the Nigerian Army.
