Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministries, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka has urged judges in Enugu State to shun cultism or face dire consequences.
The fiery priest made the appeal during a holy mass, which was part of activities  to mark the beginning of Enugu State Judiciary Legal Year held at Christ the King Parish, Enugu.

He alleged that some belong to secret societies in a bid to.......
protect their lives and to ensure a successful career without knowing that such practices would only end in bringing the wrath of God upon them.
Mbaka advised the judges and lawyers to see their profession as a special calling from God and, therefore, try to carry out their functions with the fear of God.
“If any of you is in any secret society, you had better come out of it before it is too late. You don’t need such things. Those who join them never enjoy their last days. You are never protected.
“They may promise you favour but that comes from God alone. So, depend on Him because He is the Chief Judge.
“One thing with such secret societies is that they will never tell you what the end of it is like, they will show you the part you think is good but when you enter, you will be finished.”
He charged judges to always carry out their function of dispensation of justice without fear or favour, adding that “when justice is denied, God is not happy.”
He also pointed out that “many people in the prison today are there because of what they know nothing about; maybe because of lies told against them.”
Mbaka also told the judges to stand as the last hope of the common man in the society and always live up to expectations.
“Whatever you do in the court will come back to your family; if you are unjust in the court, maybe one day, one of your children will be jailed or even killed,” he said.
The Catholic priest who predicted the defeat of former President Goodluck Jonathan recalled that God had long before the general elections revealed to him that Hon. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi would be the next governor of Enugu State.
“The first time I saw the governor, then he was in the National Assembly and I didn’t even know him. I greeted him and told him ‘you are going to be the governor of Enugu State,” he said.
He urged Ugwuanyi to always bear the interest of the people of the state at heart and also remain close to God in all he does.
“You need protection from heaven so that you will be able to actualize all the good plans you have for Enugu. Know that you are a prayer answered because Enugu made a lot of noise about your election”, he told Ugwuanyi, who was at the church.
Other dignitaries who attended the mass service were the Enugu Deputy Governor, Mrs. Cecilia Ezeilo; Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Hon. Edward Ubosi; the Chief Judge of the State, Hon. Justice I. A. Umezulike; Senator Chukwuka Utazi, among others.
The celebration continued at the state judiciary complex where the Chief Judge inspected a guard of honour mounted for the ceremony before going to preside over a special court session as part of activities lined up for the celebration.
