Felix Okechukwu Iheanacho undergoing dialysis |
This is the story of Felix Okechukwu Iheanacho as told by brother Uche Iheanacho
Felix, as his middle name ‘Okechukwu’ explains, is a ‘Creation of God’, like
you and I. He was born on 1st June 1984 at Island Maternity in Lagos
and has lived in Lagos all his life, even though his parents hail from
Owerri in Imo State.
The
young man has resided with his parents and siblings in Aguda and
Ijeshatedo in Surulere all this while. Felix attended Itire Nursery and
Primary School in Ijesha and proceeded to Government College Odogbolu,
Ogun State from 1995 to 1999. Due to distance and inability to cope
following disability from polio, he was transferred back to Lagos and he
concluded his secondary education at Dell International Schools,
Ijeshatedo, Surulere, Lagos in 2003.
Felix
has since been a struggling young man, not minding his polio disability
and the crutches he has to use for mobility. He knew had to make ends
meet, no matter how far the ends!
However,
in 2009, fate dealt him another blow – another wrong card; he fell ill
and was diagnosed with kidney failure (one kidney) though he was
neither an alcoholic nor a smoker. He has since been receiving medical
treatment from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH), Idi-Araba.
Recently, he was advised to have a kidney transplant but instead of
just one kidney, it was discovered that both his kidneys were no longer
functioning. His family decided to seek a second opinion at the Cardiac
Renal Centre in Gbagada, Lagos where he went through series of tests and
it was confirmed that he needs kidney transplant.
His family – has been taking care of his medical bills and twice weekly dialysis which costs N100,000 (with his drugs).
An estimated N11,000,000 (Eleven Million Naira) is required to take care of his medical bill for kidney transplant in a hospital in India.

Felix
and his family are quite confused at the cruel hand fate has dealt him;
and the amount of money required to give him a new lease of life. He
has carried one burden or another all his 31 years on earth.
Can you help give this young man a break? He needs some love for once, as a ‘Creation of God’ – Okechukwu.
