The father of the girl, Mr. Adaji Paul, an indigene of Ochobo in the Ohimini Local Government Area of Benue State, had said that his daughter had been missing since August 12, 2015. Adaji, who resides in Sokoto with his family, alleged that some persons spotted his daughter at the Sultan’s palace.
However, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Imam Imam, said in a statement that measures had been taken since the story of the alleged abduction took place.

“In the first 24 hours, the State Human Rights Commission has contacted the Sultanate Council and the State Police Command for a briefing. The State Human Rights Commission has also spoken to the State Hisbah Commission, as well as the person whose telephone number was given in the initial allegation made online.
“Despite efforts however, the State Human Rights Commission has been unable to contact the family of Patience Paul or anyone who will shed more light on the allegations. The State Human Rights Commission has now opened a public plea urging Ms Paul’s family or representatives to contact it for a detailed briefing.
