Almost killed for being a teacher..

It is only in Nigeria that such a drama or incident can happen 'as nothing dey happen'. For Mr. Gbenga Ogunleye, he narrowly missed death by
hair's breadth from the men of the Nigeria Customs Service Oyo/Osun state command for daring to to correct an erring student.

Mr Ogunleye is a school teacher with the United Senior Secondary School, Ijokodo, Ibadan, Oyo State. His alleged crime was that he only attempted to punish a group of unruly boys who were fond of dressing indecently to the school and assembling in an uncompleted building at odd hours to serve as a deterrent to others in his school, when one of them custom man pikin  rebelled.

Fastforward>> Ognuleye explained that teachers rounded the unruly boys up, seized their uniforms and slippers, instructed them to form a queue and jump up and down, but while others complied, a Senior Secondary School 3 pupil, Allyson Chukwuebuka, rebelled & resisted and called his parents on the phone.

“The father then called some uniformed men who drove into the school’s premises in high speed. They dragged Ogunleye on the ground, beat him to a pulp and tore his shirt. The boy Ebuka reached for a wheel spanner and aimed at Ogunleye's head, but he used his hand to protect his dear head.When the teachers and pupils wanted to rescue him, the Customs men fired some normal shots into the air, and everybody scampered for safety. 

 Latest: The Customs authorities alleged that it was the teacher who brutalised the 19-year-old student. Bumba claimed that the school authorities, after realising the implications of the injuries allegedly inflicted on Chukwuebuka, offered him a sum of N5,000 to obtain medical treatment. He said the petition written by the school authorities was a last resort to cover up and protect the teacher.

So Folks who are we to blame? Teacher for punishing his student? Or Custom parents for brutalizing the the teacher for punishing their child? Meanwhile is it RIGHT or WRONG to beat punish a student?
