REMEMBER Roslyn Etsemobor, whose pathetic story was published for the second time in The Guardian of Saturday, September 22, 2012.
Reports have reached The Guardian that she’s now enjoying a new lease of life having undergone a successful operation on August 6 at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
The Head, Publications Department of the City Of David Parish of The Redeemed Christian Church of God,  publishers of the Avantgarde Magazine, Barrister Joy Etiaba, had met Roselyn in the church during one of the services sometime in May. Moved by Roselyn’s plight, Mrs. Etiaba asked an usher to get her number.

She said: “After the service, I called her. Though she was reluctant to speak with me, I persuaded her. She said many people had promised to help, but only used her. With the help of the publication team, a story was published on Roselyn in the church’s magazine and this helped to raise three million naira from the members.”
Mrs. Etiaba added that it was not the first time the church would embark on such a project, saying, “Every year, we help someone and it was Roselyn this year. The Church runs a yearly Corporate/ Christian Social Responsibility, CRS programme. We started it last year so this year we were looking for someone to help.”
The operation, Etiaba said, cost N1.5m, adding that the UCH was informed that it was a charity project.
The project, she explained, covers Roselyn’s operation, rehabilitation and her empowerment since she was a fashion designer before the sudden illness.
A changed Roselyn expressed her gratitude in an interview with The Guardian, “The operation was carried out by Neuro surgeons, Ophthalmologists and ENT(Ear, Nose an Throat) surgeons. The Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David parish footed the bills. I thank God it was a success. I give glory to the Lord of Hosts. Truly, He’s my Redeemer!”
She added that Nigerians were helpful to her, saying the Federal Ministry of Health gave her N2million, which she sowed as a healing seed.
“Top on the list of my donors are The Redeemed Christian Church of God, City of David Parish, Victoria Island, Lagos. The three-million-naira paid for my operation at UCH, was by the Church. Thank you, I am sincerely grateful,” she stressed.
She advised people in  difficult situations to look onto God and never lose faith in their maker.
“Believe your present predicament is but a passing whiff of smoke because whatever has a beginning surely has an end. I am dedicating the remaining days of my life to the service of God and I wish to travel near and far to testify to His mercy and goodness in my life,” she declared.
