s.O.s: Pa. Kasumu still needs N6m for treatment abroad

Pa Kasumu

Popular Yoruba actor, Olukayode Odumosu – Pa. Kasumu – still requires the sum of N6m to enable him go for the much needed treatment overseas.  This is against the N12m earlier announced.
Although the family has yet to make this figure public, a family source says the fund raiser  drive for the actor has been suspended for now.
“The fundraising campaign was headed towards a different direction. Some persons were almost hijacking the process and almost went ahead to open separate account numbers. But the family does not want that. We strongly believe that some of them had ulterior motives so we had to rest it for now to avoid scandals.”
The source adds that the actor is still being treated and has been responding positively to treatment. “Right now his sight is a lot better but occasionally he complains it is blurred and he complains that he sees double images.
“His speech is also a lot better than before and he can recognise faces. We have also come to realise that it is not unconnected to the brain. This good news notwithstanding, we still need to fly him abroad for appropriate treatment. We need at least N6m in total.”
The source also adds that the family will communicate the plans in due course.
Lagos and Ogun State governments had earlier donated towards the cause in the past. So, have some notable personalities and fans done same.
The actor,  who turned 60 in March,  is currently down with Biventricular Heart Failure, an ailment that has seriously affected his heart and lungs. Odumosu, who celebrated the 45th anniversary of his acting career this year, fell ill after suffering partial stroke in 2009.
Meanwhile, Veteran Nollywood actor, Olumide Bakare, is said to be currently down with a heart-related ailment. According to sources, the actor has been absent from the screen for a long time now because his health condition is now critical.
The 60-year-old thespian who has been in and out of hospital for some time now, has been relocated by family members to Ibadan, Oyo State due to the severity of the ailment.
Bakare, who is most famous as Chief Koko in the popular 1980s TV series ‘Koko Close’ was quoted to have asked for help from well-meaning Nigerians.
