A 25-year-old man, Bello Mallami Aliyu, has allegedly killed and buried his father, Mallami Aliyu in Sokoto, aged 56. Both the suspect and the victim lived together at Kofar Kasua Area of Sokoto metropolis.
The slain Aliyu was said to be an official of the Centre for Islamic Studies of the Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto before he was allegedly murdered by his son.
The suspect’s action had made the residents to be jittery immediately the news of incident broke out at about 2am on Sunday.

Sunday night at about 2am. According to her, Bello met his father on that fateful night at about 2am saying his Nafilat prayers and threatened to kill him. The witness said as soon as he made the threat, he brought out his machete and struck his father in the head.
Hajia Fatima explained that the suspect continued hitting him until he confirmed that he was dead before he took the corpse and buried it within the vicinity.When contacted, the state police command’s spokesman, Mr Sani Al-Mustapha, a Deputy Superintendent, confirmed the incident.
He said the police promptly responded by arresting the suspect, who according to preliminary investigation, was discovered to be under the influence of excessive drug abuse.
According to Al-Mustapha, “the boy is in detention now and investigation has begun. Though, we discovered he was intoxicated and wasn’t himself at the moment, however, the security is waiting for him to regain his consciousness before further investigation.”
