Super Falconet player Courtney Dike has reportedly turned down a windfall in the region of $7000 (N1.2m) given to each player as bonus for partaking in the just concluded U-20 FIFA women’s competition where the Super Falconets were runners up in Canada.
Courtney, who is the younger sister of Super Eagles player, Bright Dike said she....
valued playing for Nigeria, more than the monetary reward.
Head of competition, Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Dr. Sanusi Mohammed expressed his shock at the stance of Dike’s family not to take the bonus.
Sanusi told Footballlive.ng that Courtney Dike, who is based in America, was paid the outstanding 10 days worth of allowances in the tune of seven thousand dollars, but she turned it down.
When approached, the mother of the Falconet star stated that her daughter (Courtney) was too young to earn that much, insisting that the opportunity to serve Nigeria was all the reward the family needed.
This development is a stark contrast to what is usually obtainable among Nigeria’s national teams players.
Most recently, the Super Eagles refused to train prior to the fixture against France in Brazil 2014 World cup, on the basis of a bonus row, a game they would go on to lose.

Share your thoughts...thanks!
