A 28 year old Kelvin Osagie who allegedly masterminded the
kidnap of his grandmother, Mrs. Victor Aiwerioghene
have been arrested by the Policemen from Zone 5, Intelligence Unit, Benin, Edo
State,
According to a police report, the suspect in
collusion with others criminals abducted the woman from her home in Ikpoba Hill
area of the state capital, in July 2011.
Osagie’s arrest was made possible
following information obtained by the police from one of the kidnappers,
Fred Omoruyi, who was earlier arrested. The accused reportedly fingered Osagie as the mastermind of his paternal grandmother’s kidnap.
Omoruyi was charged to court on two counts of alleged kidnap and conspiracy to commit felony.
Omoruyi, according to police sources, confessed to
the crime, saying Osagie contacted him and another suspect who is still
at large to execute the plot.
Aiwerioghene (grand mother) was said to have been kept in a wardrobe for six days after her kidnap, before she was rescued by the police.
