My Mum Pushed Me Into Robbery — Suspect



A former auto mechanic arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command at Ebute Metta in Lagos for car snatching has confessed that his mother contributed to him taking into armed robbery.
The suspects, Charles Iweka, 27 years old along with his
partner, Ernest Eze were arrested for snatching a space wagon, Opel Safira with registration number FKJ 676 AP last Thursday.
According to the Lagos Police Public Relation Officer, Ngozi Braide, investigation carried out by the State Anti-Robbery Squad SARS revealed that the suspects operate along Ijebu-Ode express road. The Opel space wagon was said to have been snatched on gun point at Ondo State where the driver was shot and still receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.
At the parade at the state command on Monday, the Anambra state indigene blamed his mum for pushing him out of the house after his brother was kidnapped for a month. He said that being the eldest, his mum was not happy about his lifestyle and expected him to look after his two younger ones.
“Though, I was an auto mechanic, I became an armed robber when my brother was kidnapped and my mum pushed me out of the house blaming me for his misfortune. After that time, life became unbearable as I had to struggle to survive and friends were helping me out. It was then I met Ernest who introduced me to this business. I have not made money from it yet as this is my first major operation”, he said.
The suspect also confessed that he used to pick pockets while in he was in secondary school and this deviant behavior had led him into armed robbery. Charles promised to leave Lagos and go back to the village to farm and stop armed robbery.
